The Saturday evening torchlight parade honors the martyred saints and mirrors the Sicilian feast where devotees visit the shrine in Trecastagni on Mount Etna carrying heavy votive candles. In Lawrence, the Society members carry their sulfuric torches from 3 different directions to meet at the wide intersection of Common and Newbury streets. Here, as well as all along their route, they shout their devotion to the saints: Con tutto cuore! (With all our hearts!) Con vero fede! (With true faith!) It has been a tradition in the city of Lawrence since 1923. Click on first photo to enlarge.
